Zach Green

First team All-Area 2001-2002 and second team All-Metro 2001-2002… broke school single season receiving record in 2001 with 31 catches for 478 yards… three-year starter in football and two-year starter in basketball… two-year letterman in track in the high jump, shotput and discus… scored the most points for his track team in 2002… played for Coach Frank Caputo… chose Clemson over Georgia Tech and Arkansas

More on Green: Green caught 15 passes for Salem High last season. Salem was primarily a running team. He was also recruited by Georgia Tech, Arkansas and Furman. He bench presses 300 pounds and squats 400 pounds. Saw much more action during his junior year when the team wasn’t so run oriented. Also played defensive end. Recruited by Ron West.

Quoting Green: “I really like the (Clemson) campus. I like that everybody gets into football season. I like the offense. They have used the tight end more than other teams like them. I don’t think it was that hard to decide where to go to. I felt like it was where I wanted to be. It was an easy decision, not a hard one.”

“I have really good hands and good feet. I have good foot speed. I’ve just got to build my strength and my blocking technique. I need to work on my speed getting downfield. They have talked to me about probably redshirting. They already have two tight ends on scholarship, but if somebody goes down I’ll have to play.”
